Theological responses to post-modern era is theme of next clergy synod

The next clergy synod will be held in Brecon Cathedral next week.

The theme of the day is ‘theological responses to the post-modern era’ led by Rev Dr Colin Greene of Sarum College.

The post-modern era is the period beginning in the mid to late 20th century, often noted for the rejection of the religious beliefs that we have taken for granted, but a period where people increasingly search for meaning in the face of rejecting previously held beliefs.

Previous to working at Sarum College, Colin Greene had been professor of theological and cultural studies, Seattle School of Theology and Psychology; professor of systematic theology at Seattle Pacific University; head of theology and public policy at the British and Foreign Bible Society; lecturer in doctrine and systematic theology at Trinity College, Bristol. He has also been a parish priest.

He is shortly retiring from being the co-ordinator for the Centre for Theology, Imagination and Culture at Sarum College, and the programme leader for the MA in theology, imagination and culture.

The synod will take place on Tuesday, July 16 at Brecon Cathedral. A timetable of the day and evaluation form are available here.
